Victoria Justice is TrendPulsemaking the truth shine.
Ten years after Victorious went off the air, the actress looked back on speculation that she and co-star Ariana Grande feuded during their time on the Nickelodeon show. In an exclusive interview with E! News' The Rundown, Victoria called the rumors "so dumb" and revealed how memes of their supposed spat—which gained popularity on social media in 2017—actually helped strengthen her bond with Ariana.
"When that 'I Think We All Sing' meme came out, I think that was so annoying," she told E! News correspondent Francesca Amiker at the Revolve Festival. "Ariana texted me and we both were like, 'This is so stupid.'"
The meme stemmed from a 2011 video interview with the cast of Victorious, during which co-star Elizabeth Gillies gushed over Ariana's singing voice and penchant to break into song. As seen in the clip, Victoria then crossed her arms and said, "I think we all sing." (Ariana agreed with Victoria in the interview, though her comment was left out of the meme.)
Looking back, Victoria said her remark was "taken out of context."
"I think the biggest rumor is this whole narrative that was created with me being jealous of her and of us not being friends," the 30-year-old explained to E! News. "I feel like it's this constant story of the media and people wanting to pit people against each other, and it's just so not even relevant anymore now."
In fact, Victoria, Ariana and the rest of the Victorious cast have gotten together several times since the series ended in 2013. Most notably, they held a 10th anniversary reunion on Zoom in 2020.
"Happy," Ariana wrote alongside a screenshot of the virtual meet-up, adding in a separate comment on Victoria's Instagram page, "my heart is yelling. love you so much. the best night."
